This is an invitation to students in Third to Eighth Grade to join the
RCLS Chess and Games Club!
So...what exactly is a “Chess and Games Club”? The RCLS Chess and Games Club is designed for students who want to learn chess or new games, play chess or familiar games with others, explore strategy and tactics, and have a lot of “competitive fun”!
Each week, the RCLS Chess and Games Club will give students the opportunity to compete with others on a wide variety of games and chess. Students will be able to play one game the entire time, or try several throughout each hour. Older students will also benefit from leadership opportunities by teaching games or chess to others new to certain games.
So, if you’d like to challenge your brain and have fun doing it...the RCLS Chess and Games Club is for you!
The RCLS Chess and Game Club would like to meet from 3:30 – 5:00 pm
in the library on the following dates:
February 10, 17, and 24; March 3
Students are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they like. You are not required to attend each week.
To get this club started, here are some things we need:
1. Funds and Games – Please consider donating about $10 toward the
purchase of new games, or donating a favorite challenging game, or letting
us borrow a great game you already have!
2. Volunteers – We need people to be chess teachers/encouragers/learners. If you are willing to
help, we need you!!
3. Snacks - We’d also like to provide snacks for the students!
4. Information – Sign up at https://www.rcls.net/student-life/clubs-academic-competitions by February 9th! Just click on the “Club Registration Form”!
5. If you have any questions, please call Mr. Nelson at 289-3267 ext. 410 or e-mail at
