Celebrations
We love to celebrate at RCLS!
While there is no shortage of celebrations throughout the school year, the entire school gets particularly excited about these annual events each year.
Hallelujah Carnival
Each year on the last Saturday prior to Halloween, RCLS hosts a Hallelujah Carnival. The carnival is a low cost, family-friendly evening. Participants may find themselves ringing a dinosaur, smashing a frog, hitting the milk bottles, or standing in the money booth. They could also have a Carnival picture taken, get their face painted, create a craft, throw a wet sponge at a teacher, enter and judge the Pumpkin Contest, play BINGO, or walk on the Cake Walk. Families can find food in the cafeteria and a Book Fair in the library. This is a highly anticipated event in the school year!
National Lutheran Schools Week
To honor the teachers who serve their students and to celebrate the value of a Lutheran education, RCLS and Lutheran schools across the U.S. celebrate National Lutheran Schools week in the last week of January each year. At RCLS, dress-up days, a special chapel service, an organized service event, and celebrations in individual classrooms mark this celebratory week.

Bobcat Pep Rally
Every February, RCLS hosts an area basketball tournament. Before the tournament begins, RCLS's long-standing tradition is to have an all-school pep rally. It is a time when school spirit is high and celebration is in the air. The pep band plays, the basketball teams are honored, each class performs a cheer, and the entire student body gets excited to cheer on their Bobcats all weekend long. It's good to be a Bobcat!
RCLS Field Day
RCLS’s spring Track & Field Day is school-wide celebration that marks the coming of spring and the near-end of the school year. One can find the usual track and field events, but there are a lot of fun activities and community-building particulars that characterize the day. One of the more celebrated activities is the Chapel Family relay. Chapel Family leaders typically bring accessories for each member of their Chapel Family, and Families don this apparel to participate in games and the highlight: a Chapel Family relay race.
8th Grade Graduation
Because RCLS students graduate from their beloved school to move on to high school, we mark the significance of their accomplishments and their transition with a formal graduation ceremony. It is a sweet time of remembering and an opportunity for 8th graders to reflect on their growth and to receive a blessing as they take their firm foundation with them into high school.
