Winona Track and Field Guidelines and Information
When: Friday, May 12, 2023
Who: Students in Grades 3-8
Where: Paul Giel Field in Winona (West 3rd St., Winona, MN)
Transportation: Bus will transport (DEPART 8:15am, return app. 5:00pm)
Cost will be $15.00 per student attending. Send cash or check (made out to RCLS) back to your children’s) homeroom teacher with the signed bus permission form. Form and fee due Thursday, May, 11.
Expectations for students:
· When we arrive at the track, students will sit in the bleachers with their class for opening devotions. After devotions students will sit with their classmates in the RCLS designated area of the field.
· Students may enter up to four events with a minimum of two events. In addition, they potentially could participate in the relays and/or the All-school shuttle.
· Students are required to ride the bus TO the track meet.
· Return trip, students may ride home with their parents, but they need to inform their teacher. Students must have written permission from their parents to ride home with another family. Fill out and return the form to the child(ren)’s homeroom teacher.
Expectations for Parents:
· Please help teachers run the long jump/triple jump events. The teachers specifically need help with crowd control, raking, recording, and measuring.
· Help supervise students.
· If students are riding home with parents, they need to check in with their homeroom teacher before leaving.
What students need to bring:
· Blanket to sit on
· Sunscreen
· Water bottle
· Athletic clothing and warm clothing (specifically something to break the wind)
· Proper running shoes
· Lunch (no refrigerator available) or money to buy lunch at the concession stand
· Students are reminded that since this is a school activity, the school’s dress code is to be observed (no too short shorts or spaghetti strap tank tops)
· No electronic devices: this includes cameras, video games, laptops, Chromebooks, cell phones etc. The teachers will have cell phones if needed.
· DO NOT bring outside toys (footballs, discs, balls, etc.)
