What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a gift certificate that can be used like cash at stores that participate in the SCRIP program. Certificates are available from most national chains as well as local grocery and gasoline stores. A complete listing of the participating stores can be found on the RCLS website rcls.net.
Why should I use SCRIP?
Using SCRIP is an easy way to reduce your facilities fee/tuition bill and earn money for RCLS. It COSTS you nothing. Profits from SCRIP benefit everyone in our school system. We can all do our part by participating in this program.
How does it work?
The RCLS SCRIP Program buys gift certificates at a discount from merchants in the program. When you buy a certificate from the SCRIP Program, you pay the full face value. You use the certificate like cash, just like any other gift certificate. The difference between the discounted cost to the SCRIP Program and the face value you pay is the profit, from which comes your family credit and/or the RCLS profit.
How much credit do I receive? NEW: Please read the changes:
You receive 70% of your profit and RCLS will receive 30% profit for on each dollar earned after your account has reached the reached a $25 profit. There is no limit on the dollar about you can earned. The SCRIP credit you earn during the current school year will be credited to the following school year’s tuition statement. If you are an 8th grade family and would like your SCRIP credit returned at the end of the year please contact Ann Nicometo before the end of the year,
* reduce your tuition and/or school fees
* to the general RCLS fund
* to an RCLS program (athletic, drama, library…) * to an RCLS association church of your choice
* for tuition assistance for a needy family
How do I use SCRIP?
SCRIP is like cash, and can be used at regular checkout lanes. Since it is like cash, if it is lost the SCRIP program cannot replace it. You can receive change back when using paper SCRIP, but each store sets their own change policy. Since many stores now use debit cards as their certificates, you use it like a credit card each time you shop. When the total amount of the card has been used, the card is discarded.
How can I purchase SCRIP?
To start, please fill-out the enclosed Family Registration Form. There are two ways to purchase SCRIP. First, you may order by using the enclosed order form. Complete the form, indicated the SCRIP you would like to purchase and attach your check for the total amount. Please submit orders by Friday at 3 p.m. so that you may pick-up your SCRIP the following Wednesday. You always get the most current order form from the RCLS website under the SCRIP program link. You may also purchase SCRIP in the school office. A limited supply of SCRIP is sold in the RCLS school office during the following hours:
Monday-Friday: 7:30am - 9:00am and 2:00-3:00 PM
CLOSED when there is no school:(i.e. snowday, MEA, holiday breaks, etc.)
These hours are in-forced during the school year. A slightly different schedule is used during the summer months. SCRIP is also sold at the association churches after most of the Sunday Services, but profits earned goes to the church when purchased on Sundays.
