WHAT IS SCRIP?
The Scrip Program is a fundraising tool for RCLS. The program passes part of the benefit on to you, our school families. Here is how it works:
We purchase gift certificates from various local and national businesses at a discount (discount varies), and sell them to you at face value. You purchase the certificates from RCLS at face value and spend them at the store just as you would pay cash, write a check. In this manner, the store has made a contribution to RCLS, and you haven't changed your buying habits. Businesses that participate are Econofoods, HyVee, Super America, Kwik Trip, JC Penney, Menard's, Bruegger's, Applebees, Burger King, and Culver's, just to name a few. Of course, as you see how the program works, we hope you will decide to frequent those stores who do participate in the program.
During the school year, order forms are included in the Paw Print (the
school to home newsletter) each Wednesday. Presently orders are done
weekly (in on Friday PM/Monday AM, ready for pick up on Wednesday PM). We also carry
inventory of frequently used stores in the school office for purchase at
anytime during the school day. During the summer, please call prior to
making a trip to be sure someone is in the office. Order forms, with
payment attached, may be deposited in the marked drawer of the wooden
tower outside the office.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO JOIN THE
SCRIP PROGRAM?
Nothing. Just purchase Scrip. There are no
registration forms or applications to fill out. Just purchase Scrip either
on an order form or over the counter as often as you like. Please note we
try hard, but can not always anticipate demand in the amounts stocked at
school. The only sure way to get what you want is through the order form.
You may call ahead to have your order ready for you or stop in the office
between 8 am and 1 pm during the summer.
WHERE DOES THE PROFIT GO?
This year we have instituted the family fee - $400 per family with
students in grades K-8 for the school year 20006-07. $25,000 of this money
will automatically be moved to the general operating budget. The $400
family fee can be 'earned' back through the purchase of Scrip. The family
will earn $100% of the profit on all purchases (i.e. Super America $100
Gift Card (5%) = $5.00). The higher the percent we receive from the
business, the more you earn. YOU WILL EARN TUITION CREDIT ON EVERY
PURCHASE YOU MAKE! No minimum purchase before you start to earn credit.
Once $400 in profit is reached (equal to the family fee) the profit will
then be split 50/50 with RCLS. This credit will show up as a deduction on
the July statement for the following school year. If this is your last
year at RCLS (8th grader, moving, etc.) your earnings up to $400 will be
refunded if so requested. This money can also be donated to scholarships,
library, drama, etc. You can only recieve a refund if you paid the family
fee. Your wishes for this money need to be communicated to us. If we hear
nothing, the money will go back to the school. Preschool families will
split profits 50/50 with the school with credit applied toward tuition for
the following school year. Some families have talked to co-workers,
relatives and neighbors, and are purchasing Scrip for them to their own
credit.
HOW IS TUITION CREDIT USED?
The Scrip year ends June 22nd. Accumulated credits are noted on
the accompanying tuition statement and deducted from amount due. Starting
on July 1, 2007 all credit you earn will be applied toward the
registration feeds for the 2008-09 school year.
We hope to serve you efficiently throughout
the year. If you have questions, leave a message with the school office or
contact Lori Schultz (281-4301) or email
. We want to answer your questions and we want your business!. It helps
your school while it helps you.
