I see many faith heroes in the Bible. One hero that God used to tell others about him was Isaiah. My favorite Bible verse comes from Isaiah 43:1, “I have called you by name, you are mine.” This Bible verse daily reminds me that first and foremost I am a child of God and that he has called me personally to belong to him. God has also called me to be a wife, mom, and teacher.

I grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois. It is a small town near St. Louis. My husband, Aaron, and I met in college and were married after I graduated. I have lived here in Rochester for four years. Aaron and I have been blessed with five years of marriage and have a two year old daughter, Sophia. Aaron is also a teacher at RCLS and teaches science grades 6-8.

I graduated from Concordia University – River Forest, IL with a dual certification bachelor’s degree in elementary education and director of Christian education. I have enjoyed teaching fifth grade at RCLS and look forward to my fourth year here. In fifth grade we have lots of fun learning opportunities such as outdoor education, a ski day in January, and presenting a person from history in a school wax museum. I feel blessed everyday to experience the joy students have in learning.

In my free time I enjoy many activities. I love playing with Sophia, reading, exercising, traveling, scrapbooking, and eating ice cream!

I look forward to this year and am especially excited to see how God will be using each of his children to spread his joy in class this year. Stop by and visit our classroom of heroes anytime!
