I have lived in Rochester since 2003 when I began teaching at RCLS. I am currently in my 7th year of teaching. I graduated from Concordia University- River Forest, IL with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a focus in Biology. My family includes my wife, Emilie who teaches 5th grade at RCLS and my daughter Sophia who turned 2 on August 25. I currently teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade Science as well as 7A homeroom Religion. I also coach soccer and boys basketball as well as serve as the Athletic Director.
My Science classes learn to appreciate and understand the purpose for living and non-living things around us as we learn about God’s wonderful creation. Some activities that we do throughout the year include labs, field trips, and a Science Fair. In the summer of 2008, we took 18 7th and 8th graders to Key Largo, Florida for a Biology Summer Camp. During this trip, each participant was able to see and experience an ecosystem not easily observed in Rochester, Minnesota. Some life observed included eagle rays, manatees, sharks, and even a sea turtle among many other forms of life! Our next trip will be in the summer of 2010!
Two of my most favorite Bible verses are:
Ephesians 2:8-9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Psalm 139:13-14: “For You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
