Hello,
I am enjoying 5th grade. I’m finding that like 3rd grade we have a lot of new information to learn. We have learned loooong division, greatest common factor, prime factorization, and order of operations in math. I know this is all preparing us for what is to come in math.
Social Studies is what I teach all the 5th graders. We are learning cool stuff about how our world was colonized and by whom and what effects that had on the people there. Spanish colonized Mexico, South America, and Central America. We had Spanish Explorers here in the United States long before England came to our shores. Now we continue with English, Dutch and French Explorers and their first colonies. I’m excited to find out where the rest of the year goes.
Reading is exciting. Fifth grade really gets into the book with refined comprehension skills. We have book shares and literature units. Wow!
I hope you’ve realized I like teaching 5th grade. I also enjoy having some of the same students again. We did not have to spend anytime getting to know each other. We just reacquainted ourselves.
Have a blessed day! |
