“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

This is my seventh year at RCLS. I have been actively involved in Lutheran Ministry since 1971. I am a graduate of Concordia University, Chicago, where I earned a Bachelors of Arts in Education and a Masters of Arts in Early Childhood Administration.

When I was growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, I attended a Lutheran school. Often my teachers encouraged me to tutor other students. Before I knew it, I had made the decision to become a teacher and to attend the alma mater of my favorite teachers, Concordia in River Forest, Illinois. As I continued my education at Lutheran East High School, I fell in love with math. I was sure I had found the final direction for my life...I would become a Lutheran high school math teacher!

Over time, God’s direction for my life was being clarified. I left the secondary program and entered the elementary program to work with younger students. After teaching grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and language arts in grades 7+8, I discovered the joy of early childhood teaching and administration. While I was completing my master degree program in early childhood, I was called to begin an early childhood center in Batavia, Illinois. God richly blessed the ministry. In the 13 years I served as the administrator and teacher, the one-room preschool grew with additional elementary grades, two building expansions, Lutheran accreditation and Illinois recognition...to a school of almost 300 students.

God had even more ministry opportunities planned for me. I accepted a call to teach fifth grade at Rochester Central, but later moved to second and third grade. Teaching at RCLS continues to give me the opportunity to share my faith each and every day. It is very exciting to be a part of a Gospel-centered ministry where I can celebrate the unique gifts of each child while we share our mutual faith in our gracious God.

When I am not at school, I enjoy the company of my daughters and grandchildren who live nearby. I love bicycling, the fine arts, and exploring God’s world.

God’s blessings abound and unfold daily as we listen to His leading and calling in our lives. May God bless our journey together as we rely on His promises:

“For I know the plans I have for you... Jeremiah 29:11 “And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age” Matthew 28:20
